Self Study

Allot of this month I have speaking & working on Self Study (svadhyaya). It's so simple, but can be so difficult at the same time depending on how you look at it. From what I was taught it's allot about reading about philosophy, ways of teaching, & ancient scriptures etc.... One thing I found on my own was this....Self study has allot to do with the Study of the Self. You! How you act? How you feel? Where your emotions come from? How this effects you & only you... With that in mind I really started to look back & see with all this knowledge I have gained, have I taken the time to Study my Self? Which after taking allot of thought into...maybe I haven't done enough of just that. It actually opened up my eyes to things I didn't realize. I know I'm allot more grateful, humble, less angry, & hurt, but the question is why?

With that thought in mind I'm taking time to study not only these great book, & listen to wonderful talks, but I'm beginning to take that knowledge & applying it to fully learning more about my Self. I know it's not something that will be easy or quick, but I know in the long run it will be the best studies I will find out there.

So my thought for you is this...take some time & study your Self. Make your Self the study that's the biggest of all right now in your life. Read things, listen, & learn things, but try to become aware of you & how that applies to the Self that really matters. You'll be amazed how it will all connect. It's interesting if you try to apply it.

Namaste....

Being Grateful
I have to say in the last few days & weeks, I'm find that gratitude is becoming more & more predominant in my life.  I'm so grateful for everything that is in front of me, for what I have, for what I don't, what I've asked for, & for lessons I have learned. I'm grateful for my teacher, my students, my family, friends, & even strangers that cross my path. It's amazing to me that when you don't ask sometimes, things can be still given to you. You can find that the universe has asked for you.

So, my little thought for these crisp falls days is this...find your gratitude. Become grateful, thankful for things you normally wouldn't be. For that argument that opened your eyes to something, locking your keys in your car, being stuck in traffic, forgetting that one thing at the store you realize you didn't need. It might sound funny but, sometimes that thing that stops you can be the thing that saves you.

I'm so blessed & grateful for what the universe has given me....especially the lessons I have learned & grown from.

Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti
